Abida Parveen to perform in Lahore after eight years: [DailyTimes] 09 Dec, 2015

LAHORE – The-three day Mystic Music Sufi Festival 2015 will begin from December 11 at the Alhamra Cultural Complex, Gaddafi Stadium, Daily Times learnt on Wednesday.

The music festival – organised by the Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop - would feature versatile musicians and dancers from across Pakistan. Since its inauguration in 2000, the festival has showcased participants from over 22 Muslim countries.

According to the organisers, the Mystic Music Sufi Festival 2015 would bring together a diverse group of Sufi singers from all over Pakistan to showcase Sufi poetry and music that has been passed down through generations for more than a thousand years.

The festival would feature artistes such as Sain Zahoor, Sher Miandad, Akhtar Chinar Zari, Mian Miri, Pappu, Goonga Sain Dholia, Zarsenga, Areeb Azhar, Wahab Shah and would culminate in a mega performance by the legendary Abida Parveen, who is performing in Lahore after a gap of eight years.

Sufi music is an integral part of Rafi Peer's cultural focus and is a testament to the organisation’s interest and commitment to promoting art and culture across Pakistan.

The festival is dedicated to Faizaan Peerzada, a man whose life is epitomised by the scale, scope, vision and unending hope embodied in the great works that are his legacy.

The Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop is committed to spread the message of peace all over the world and promises to showcase Pakistan’s cultural heritage of peace, harmony and compassion.
