The United Nations Security Council will meet in New York today over Iran’s retaliatory drone and missile attack on Israel.

Earlier, in a statement, the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres had urged all parties to exercise maximum restraint to avoid any action that could lead to major military confrontations on multiple fronts in the Middle East.

Iran had launched a swarm of explosive drones and fired missiles at Israel last night in its first-ever direct attack on Israeli territory.

Meanwhile, the leaders of the G7 countries are holding a video conference today to discuss Iran’s strikes on Israel.

The session has been called by Italy, which holds the rotating presidency of the group.

The US President Joe Biden has said the G7 leaders, during video conference, will coordinate a united diplomatic response to Iran’s attack on Israel.
