More than 40 countries have called on Israel to lift sanctions imposed on Palestinians over seeking the UN's top court's opinion on Israeli occupation.
In a statement, the 40 UN member states, reaffirmed their unwavering support for international law and expressed deep concern over Israeli decision to impose punitive measures against the Palestinians.Palestinian ambassador to the UN Riyad Mansour lauded the move saying the countries are united in rejecting Israeli punitive measures.Meanwhile, a spokeswoman for the UN secretary-general expressed deep concern over the Israeli measures stressing that there should be no retaliation in connection with UN resolution.A UN Security Council meeting on the Palestinian issue will be held tomorrow.
