Pakistan Cricket Captain Babar Azam Sends Heartfelt Message to Injured Kane Williamson, Wishing Speedy Recovery and Return to Cricket

Babar Azam, the captain of the Pakistan cricket team, has expressed his support and sympathy for New Zealand’s regular captain, Kane Williamson, who suffered a knee injury during the Indian Premier League (IPL) match last week. Babar Azam shared a photo of him hugging Kane Williamson and wrote a message of encouragement, saying “Bounce back stronger. Get well soon, Kane Williamson.”

The injury is a major setback for Williamson, who represented Gujarat Titans in the IPL and is now ruled out of the entire season. He sustained the injury while attempting a difficult catch in the opening game of the tournament. After returning to New Zealand, he was diagnosed with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee by the NZC medical board.

According to the New Zealand cricket board, Williamson will undergo surgery within the next three weeks, after the swelling around the knee has reduced. However, the standard rehabilitation timelines mean that he is unlikely to be fit and available for selection at this year’s ICC ODI Cricket World Cup in India.

Williamson, who won the Player of the Tournament award in the 2019 World Cup, had already skipped the series against Pakistan, which is scheduled to start on April 14. The absence of one of the world’s top batsmen will be felt by both his IPL team and his national side. Nevertheless, the cricket community is rallying behind him, including his rival captain from Pakistan, who has shown sportsmanship and camaraderie in his message of support.
