Fakhar Zaman climbs to No. 2 in the ODI batting rankings, trailing Babar Azam

Pakistan dominates the ICC ODI batting rankings as opener Fakhar Zaman secures a career-best second place, only trailing behind captain Babar Azam. Fakhar’s recent achievements include scoring consecutive centuries in the ongoing five-match series against New Zealand in Rawalpindi. Meanwhile, Babar scored 49 and 65 runs in two matches.

Fakhar Zaman’s impressive performance in the ongoing five-match series against New Zealand includes scoring 117 runs in the first ODI and an unbeaten 180 in the second, leading Pakistan to chase down targets of 289 and 337 respectively. These performances have resulted in Pakistan taking a 2-0 lead in the series. Fakhar’s outstanding form has also seen him climb the ODI batting rankings to achieve a career-best second position, surpassing his previous best ranking of No.7, which he reached in April 2021.

As Fakhar Zaman secures the second spot in the latest ICC ODI batting rankings, South Africa’s Rassie van der Dussen has slipped down to third place. Meanwhile, India’s Shubman Gill currently holds the fourth position.

In addition to Fakhar Zaman’s impressive performance, Pakistan’s opening batsman Imam-ul-Haq has also made his mark in the ICC ODI batting rankings. Imam-ul-Haq has secured the fifth position in the rankings after scoring 60 and 25 runs in the two ODIs played so far.
