Meta Introduces Message Editing Feature for Whatsapp: Take Control of Your Chats!

Mark Zuckerberg, in a recent Facebook post, announced an exciting update for users. Now, you can easily modify a message within 15 minutes of sending it. In order to take advantage of this feature, simply press and hold on to the message and select the edit option to make the necessary changes. To indicate that a message has been edited, an “edited” tag will appear next to the time stamp. However, it’s important to note that the app does not retain a history of corrections, and previous versions of edited messages will not be visible to other users.

“We are thrilled to provide you with increased control over your chats, allowing you to correct misspellings or add more context to your messages. To utilize this feature, tap and hold the message you wish to edit within 15 minutes of sending it, and select the ‘Edit’ option from the menu,” stated the company in a recent blog post. Previously, users had to either delete a message entirely or send a separate correction message. Last year, the chat app extended the time limit for deleting a message from 48 hours to 60 hours.

While WhatsApp’s competitors like Telegram and Signal have long offered message editing capabilities, Apple also introduced this feature with iOS 16 for iMessage users. Additionally, Twitter introduced an edit button for paid users last year. Although the time limit for modifying a message on Facebook is not as generous as Telegram’s 48-hour window, it still provides users with a valuable opportunity.

According to Meta, the feature is currently being rolled out to users and will be available to everyone in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for the latest updates and enjoy enhanced control over your conversations with Facebook’s new message editing feature.
