Pakistan to Host South Africa Women’s Cricket Team in Six-Match Series

In September, Pakistan will host South Africa’s women’s cricket team for six white-ball matches. Taking place for the first time since 2013, this will be the first bilateral series between South African and Pakistani women’s teams. The National Bank Cricket Stadium will host three ODIs and three T20Is in this series. PCB is expected to announce the official match schedule for the series soon.

The series will serve as an essential preparation for both teams before the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe. The top three teams from the qualifier will join Australia, England, India, New Zealand, and South Africa in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2024, to hosted by New Zealand.

The Pakistani women’s squad placed ninth in both forms, while the South African women’s team is third in ODIs and fifth in T20Is. The two teams have played each other 13 times in ODIs and 12 times in T20Is, with South Africa winning 11 and 10 matches, respectively.

The South African women’s team, also known as the Proteas, is led by Suné Luus and coached by Hilton Moreeng. It has some of the best players in the world, such as Lizelle Lee, Laura Wolvaardt, Marizanne Kapp, Shabnim Ismail, and Dane van Niekerk. The team recently won a historic ODI series against India in India and reached the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 semi-finals.

Pakistan women’s team, also known as the Green Shirts or Women in Green, is led by Nida Dar and coached by Mark Coles. The team has talented players like Javeria Khan, Bismah Maroof, Aliya Riaz, Diana Baig, and Anam Amin. The team recently played a series against England in Malaysia, where they lost all the matches.

The series will be a historic occasion for Pakistan’s teams and women’s cricket. It will also showcase the talent and potential of both teams on the global stage.
