‘Adipurush’ Review: A Visually Cringy and Ultimately Disappointing Film

“Adipurush,” the highly anticipated film directed by Om Raut and starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Saif Ali Khan, and Sunny Singh, has finally made its long-awaited debut in theaters. Ever since its announcement in 2019, the movie had generated significant excitement and expectations among fans.

The film presents a contemporary interpretation of the revered Hindu epic, Ramayana. Although the initial trailer, released in October last year, received a lukewarm response, the filmmakers took a step back to enhance the visual effects. However, loyal fans of Prabhas remained eager to witness the cinematic experience on the grand big screen.

With “Adipurush” now playing in theaters, Prabhas’ fans flocked to cinema halls nationwide. Unfortunately, the directorial efforts of Om Raut fell short of the fans’ high expectations. Many netizens took to Twitter to express their disappointment through memes and critical discussions, particularly concerning the portrayal of mythological characters and the quality of the visual effects.

Criticism centered around Prabhas’ appearance in the film, which some viewers likened to that of Jesus Christ rather than the expected portrayal of Lord Rama. Additionally, there were trolls targeting Saif Ali Khan’s depiction of Ravana, with fans commenting that it resembled an Afghan invader rather than the iconic King Ravana.

Manoj Muntashir Shukla, the talented dialogue writer behind the highly anticipated film “Adipurush,” has responded to the heavy criticism surrounding the movie’s pedestrian language. In an announcement on Sunday, Shukla revealed that the film’s makers have taken the feedback seriously and have decided to revise some of the dialogues.

Having penned the Hindi dialogues and songs for the retelling of the revered epic Ramayana, Shukla expressed his commitment to enhancing the film’s dialogue. The revised lines, aimed at elevating the linguistic quality, will be incorporated into the movie by the end of this week.
