Weather Report: Heatwave Sweeps Across Pakistan, Karachi Records 30 Degrees Celsius

Pakistan is experiencing very hot and humid weather conditions, with temperatures rising above 30 degrees Celsius in most parts of the country. The Met Office has also warned of dust raising and gusty winds over plain areas during the next twelve hours.

According to the Met Office, dust-thunderstorm/rain expected in northeast Balochistan, Kashmir, and adjoining areas. The rest of the country will remain dry and hot. The Met Office has advised people to take precautionary measures to avoid heatstroke and dehydration.

The Met Office also issued a weather forecast for Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJK), where hot and dry weather expected in Srinagar, partly cloudy with chances of rain thunderstorms in Jammu, Shopian, Pulwama, Baramulla, and partly cloudy dry in Leh and Anantnag.

The weather conditions in Pakistan and IOJK influenced by the seasonal monsoon system, which brings rainfall from July to September. However, this year, the monsoon onset has delayed due to various factors, such as the La Nina phenomenon and the Western Disturbance.

The delayed monsoon has resulted in water scarcity, power outages, crop losses, and health issues in Pakistan and IOJK. The authorities have urged people to conserve water and electricity and to follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for Covid-19 prevention.

The Met Office has recorded the temperature of some major cities this morning:

Islamabad thirty-one degree centigrade, Lahore thirty-five, Karachi thirty, Peshawar thirty-two, Quetta twenty-six, Gilgit eighteen, Murree seventeen, and Muzaffarabad twenty-eight degree centigrade.

The Met Office has also recorded the temperature of some major cities in IIOJK this morning:

Srinagar, Pulwama, and Baramulla are twenty-degree centigrade, Jammu is twenty-eight, Leh is ten, and Anantnag and Shopian are nineteen-degree centigrade.
