Punjab’s Cattle Markets security increased Ahead of Eid ul Adha 2023

As Eid-ul-Adha approaches, cattle markets in Punjab are witnessing a flow of buyers and sellers of sacrificial animals. To ensure the safety and security of the people and the animals, the Punjab police have deployed more than 5000 officials to guard 247 cattle markets across the province.

In order to catch any criminals or miscreants, the police have also established checkpoints at the main entrances and exits of Lahore, the province capital. The police have also warned against the use of fake currency notes in the cattle markets and advised people to be alert.

The Inspector General (IG) of Punjab Police Dr Usman Anwar has directed the police officials to make foolproof security arrangements for the cattle markets and to coordinate with the district administration. He has also ordered to ensure a smooth flow of traffic and to prevent any unauthorized establishment of cattle markets.

The cattle markets are an essential part of Eid-ul-Adha, which is one of the major religious festivals of Muslims. On this occasion, Muslims sacrifice animals such as cows, goats, sheep, and camels and distribute their meat among their relatives, friends, and the poor. The festival memorializes the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to sacrifice his son Ismail (AS) in obedience to Allah.

The cattle markets are also a source of income and livelihood for many farmers, traders, and workers who bring their animals from different parts of the country. Prices of these animals vary according to their size, weight, breed, and health. The buyers and sellers often bargain and negotiate over the prices before finalizing the deal.

Cattle markets are also a place of attraction and entertainment for many families and children who visit them to see different kinds of animals and enjoy their festive atmosphere. The cattle markets are usually decorated with colorful lights, banners, and flags.

The Punjab police have taken all the necessary measures to ensure that the cattle markets are safe and secure for everyone. police have also deputed an additional force of traffic wardens around the cattle markets. The officials of Dolphins, PRU will also patrol the cattle markets and other important areas of the city.
