Pakistani singing sensation Aima Baig has recently found herself entangled in a controversy following the launch of her latest song, “Funkari.” The talented artist claimed that she co-written the song with Shakeel Sohail, but this assertion has met with the dispute.

Baig, in an interview, shared her concern about releasing a solo single. It took almost three years to complete “Funkari.” She admitted that throughout her career, she hadn’t released a solo track she worked on alone, tirelessly, day and night.

Baig revealed that the songwriting for “Funkari” began three years ago in Ramadan. She acknowledged Shakeel Sohail’s crucial role in its creation, highlighting it as their last collaboration before his demise. Additionally, Baig mentioned how she deeply engaged with a specific character during the songwriting process.

However, singer Shiraz Uppal took to Instagram to challenge Baig’s claims, accusing her of misattributing the song’s authorship. Uppal pointed out that Universal Music India had already credited him as the sole writer of the song in the YouTube description.

In a firm statement, Uppal clarified that Shakeel Sohail passed away six months prior to the creation of the song and that their last collaboration on a song called “Faraq Faraq,” not “Funkari.” Uppal emphasized that he solely composed, wrote, and produced “Funkari,” with Baig’s contribution limited to vocals, which took only three hours.

Despite the controversy, Baig’s latest release, “Funkari,” has garnered significant attention from fans and has become a social media sensation. The emotionally charged song resonated deeply with listeners and quickly became a trending topic on Twitter, highlighting its remarkable popularity and widespread acclaim.

Baig responded to the overwhelming response with gratitude and appreciation. She stated, “The incredible reception that ‘Funkari’ has received truly touches me. The love and support from my fans mean the world to me. I feel humbled by their continued encouragement, and I will strive to create music that touches their hearts.”
