Saudi Scholar Declares YouTube Earnings Haram due to Inappropriate Content
Jeddah Mosque’s Imam, Asim al-Hakim, has recently sparked a debate on the permissibility of YouTube earnings within the Islamic community. Responding to a question on Twitter, the scholar stated that earnings from YouTube are considered haram, or forbidden, without providing an immediate explanation.
However, shedding light on a previous statement made four years ago on his YouTube channel, Asim al-Hakim clarified that earning from YouTube is not inherently forbidden in Islam. The acceptability of YouTube earnings depends on the content uploaded by the YouTuber. If the content includes haram elements like music, indecent conversations, obscenity, or immorality, the income derived from it would be deemed haram.
