The International Cricket Council (ICC) has recently unveiled an exciting promotional video for the upcoming World Cup in October 2023, but it seems to have struck a sour note with cricket enthusiasts worldwide. The video showcases several captivating moments in cricket history, yet surprisingly, it excludes Pakistan’s formidable ODI batter and national team captain, Babar Azam.

The 2-minute and 12-second video highlights both the highs and lows of the cricketing world, featuring glimpses of Pakistan’s team, currently ranked number 2 in the ODI rankings, experiencing moments of disappointment. However, the video seems to marred by the omission of Babar Azam, who held the ICC’s number one ODI batter position for nearly two years and crowned ICC Men’s ODI Player of the Year in both 2021 and 2022.

The promotional video includes scenes of various cricketing incidents, including Shadab Khan conceding a six, Mohammad Amir getting bowled, Wahab Riaz feeling disheartened after conceding runs, and Inzamam-ul-haq’s unforgettable run-out in the 1992 World Cup. However, it fails to acknowledge Babar Azam’s remarkable contributions to the sport.

Mawra Hussain, a prominent Pakistani actress associated with the showbiz industry, has publicly expressed her support for Babar Azam and questioned the ICC’s decision to exclude the star batsman from the promotional video. Social media has erupted with criticism, with many alleging bias and demanding an explanation from the ICC.
