Lahore, Pakistan’s vibrant cultural metropolis and second largest city, woke up to a refreshing downpour as a new weather system enveloped the region. Several cities in Punjab, including the provincial capital, experienced heavy rainfall, offering respite from the scorching heat and humidity.

Abbot Road, Davis Road, Lakshmi Chowk, Mall Road, Shimla Pahari, Data Darbar, Gulshan Ravi, Johar Town, Gulberg, Samanabad, Baghbanpura, Garhi Shahu, and Burki faced temporary inundation after the torrential rain.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted more monsoon rains for Punjab and other parts of the country. A new weather system originating from the Bay of Bengal, coupled with a westerly trough affecting the upper parts of the country, is expected to persist over the next few days.

The PMD’s latest advisory includes rain and thundershower warning for a wide range of regions: Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, and many more areas across the country. The forecast extends until July 26th, covering regions like Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Murree, and Galliyat.

With urban flooding possible in low-lying areas of twin cities, Peshawar, Gujranwala, and Lahore from 22nd to 26th July, residents are advised to exercise caution. The authorities also warned that landslides might occur in vulnerable areas of Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, and hilly parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during this period.

Tourists visiting these regions are urged to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions to avoid any untoward situations during the wet spell.
