This new app, designed as a safer alternative to popular platforms like WhatsApp, offers features like audio and video calls, video conferences, and secure document sharing.
Initially available for federal authorities, the app’s reach will expand to provinces and eventually the general public. What makes Beep Pakistan stand out is its strong focus on security – its servers are based in Pakistan, and the app’s source code is hosted locally. This approach aims to protect sensitive information better than other options.
The government’s investment of Rs. 79 billion in 83 projects has paved the way for this innovative app, which aims to streamline communication and improve efficiency. The Minister for IT and Telecom, Syed Amin Ul Haque, believes this move will help put an end to leaks of audio and video content, ensuring more secure interactions.
This launch is a part of Pakistan’s broader efforts to boost its tech industry. The country has witnessed a significant increase in IT exports, from $1 billion to $2.6 billion, and the government envisions reaching an impressive $15 billion. Key milestones like a Cyber Security Policy and Data Protection Bill have also been achieved, highlighting Pakistan’s commitment to a safer digital environment.
