Zainab Abbas Reacts To Her Sudden Exit From India

Pakistani presenter Zainab Abbas found herself in the midst of unexpected controversy during the 2023 World Cup held in India, which ultimately led to her departure from the country. The resurfacing of controversial tweets from her past resulted in her departure.

Zainab Abbas, who was given the opportunity to host Pakistan’s match against the Netherlands, took to her Twitter account to announce her decision to leave India. She said that leaving the country was entirely her own choice, and she had neither been asked to leave nor deported.

Despite this, she revealed that she had experienced a sense of intimidation and unease due to the unfolding reactions on social media.

In her own words, she stated, “Although there was no immediate threat to my personal safety, the concerns expressed by my family and friends on both sides of the border compelled me to step back and take some time to reflect on the evolving situation.” She went on to express her deep regret for any distress caused by the resurfaced posts. She said that they did not reflect her current values or the person she has become now.

Recognizing the sensitivity of her past words, Zainab Abbas went a step further by issuing a heartfelt apology. She said there is no justification for such language and expressed genuine remorse to anyone offended by her earlier comments.

Foreign reaction

Foreign office of Pakistan had also said “It is also India’s responsibility to provide security for the Pakistani cricket team.”

“The case against Zainab Abbas on the unnecessary tweet is not a valid action.” The spokesperson had commented on the recent safe exit of sports presenter Zainab Abbas from India. The exit sparked outraged India did not welcome the analyst over her old anti-India tweets.
