In a pressing development, the private operator responsible for the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) bus service in the provincial capital has urgently called upon the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to release a sum of Rs 560 million in outstanding dues. Failure to do so may lead to the suspension of the vital service, effective October 19.

The operator, in a formal communication addressed to the Transport Department and Trans Peshawar, voiced concerns about their financial predicament. They expressed the challenges they were already facing, including severe losses, making it increasingly difficult to cover essential expenses such as staff salaries and operational costs.

Upon reaching out to Trans Peshawar, Sadaf Kamil, the organization’s spokesperson, acknowledged the gravity of the situation. She confirmed that Trans Peshawar was actively engaged with the Finance Department to expedite the payment of the outstanding dues to the BRT bus service operator. Kamil expressed optimism that a resolution would be reached in the near future.

This issue underscores the critical importance of addressing financial matters promptly to ensure the continued and seamless operation of the Bus Rapid Transit system in the provincial capital.
