MQM-Pakistan Rally for Palestine on Shahrah-e-Faisal: Anticipate Traffic Disruptions

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has announced plans to hold a solidarity rally in support of Palestine on October 20, immediately after Jumma Salat (Friday prayers) on Nursery Shahrah-e-Faisal. The event aimed at showcasing unity and raising awareness about the Palestinian cause.

Senior MQM-P leader, Mustafa Kamal, emphasized the importance of standing together on the Palestinian issue. He stated, “We will all show the world that we united on the Palestinian issue,” underlining the need for political parties to unite in condemning the atrocities faced by Palestinians.

Consequently, it expected that the rally will lead to traffic congestion and blockades in and around the Nursery Shahrah-e-Faisal area. Residents and commuters advised to plan their travel accordingly and consider alternative routes if possible.

This rally comes shortly after the MQM-P and the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) jointly called for transparent general elections. During a press conference in Karachi, Farooq Sattar, a prominent figure within the MQM-P, highlighted the need for a level playing field for all political parties to ensure fairness in upcoming elections.

Sattar also expressed concerns over ongoing corruption within the province, even after a change in the Sindh chief minister. He stated, “If the situation remains the same, the corrupt mafia will continue to dominate across the province.” Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of maintaining the interim chief minister’s neutrality and ensuring transparency.

Safdar Abbasi, the general secretary of GDA, criticized the Sindh interim chief minister and drew parallels between the Chief Minister House and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Secretariat, underscoring the need for a fair and unbiased electoral process.

As the rally takes place on Friday, October 20, residents and travelers should anticipate disruptions in the vicinity of Nursery Shahrah-e-Faisal and plan their schedules accordingly. The event serves as an opportunity for the community to demonstrate their support for Palestine, and local authorities are making preparations to manage traffic during the event.
