In a recent interview, she discussed her work, activism, and marriage. Originally from Islamabad, Mariyam Nafees became emotional while discussing her relocation to Karachi.
She shared that “she first came to the city for work but could never feel settled here. But after her marriage, she moved here and she still misses Islamabad because that is where her dogs and her family live.”Mariyam Nafees also shared that “she read her Nikkahnama and she got her right to divorce in it. She also revealed that she kept her Haq Mehr “sharayi” i.e. only around 2200 rupees. She added that she knows people sometimes ask for more Haq Mehr but she did not feel like she wants more Mehr.”
