WhatsApp New Feature: Link Multiple Devices without Internet on Phone

WhatsApp is finally releasing an important feature, it has been working on since July. It is adding the ability to use multiple devices without the need to connect the primary device to the internet. It has been testing a service that allows users to link their accounts to secondary devices and send and receive messages without having to use their primary smartphone.

This feature is now available to all WhatsApp users in the most recent update, on both Android and iOS. Before you could have a chat on your linked web browser, you had to make sure your main smartphone was still connected to the internet. Once connects, it functions similarly with the exception that you will be able to chat regardless of whether your main smartphone is online or not.

WhatsApp’s multi-device function lets users link their instant messaging account to a second device, such as a computer or laptop. It, in particular, permits end-to-end encryption for talks conducted on the secondary device. This implies that neither WhatsApp nor a third party will be able to see the messages you send or receive.

However, if you don’t open WhatsApp on your phone for 14 days, the app will automatically disconnect all other devices. Users will need to add them again for security reasons. Moreover, on iOS, you cannot delete messages or chat threads from a paired device. Another restriction is that you cannot connect a tablet or a second smartphone.
