Karachi Board Intermediate Exam on 16 June postponed Due to Cyclone Biparjoy

The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) has announced that the intermediate examinations scheduled for Friday, June 16 have been postponed due to the threat of Cyclone Biparjoy. On Thursday, it expected the cyclone to bring heavy rain, strong winds, and storm surges near the India-Pakistan border.

On Thursday, Zaheeruddin Bhutto, the controller of examinations, stated that we would announce a new date for the intermediate exams later. He said that we had decided because of the potential for rain and storm, which could affect the student’s and staff’s safety and convenience.

Cyclone Biparjoy is a powerful tropical cyclone that formed over the Arabian Sea and intensified into an extremely severe cyclonic storm. It has winds of 150 km/h (90 mph) and gusts up to 195 km/h (121 mph).  This cyclone has caused damage and casualties in India, where tens of thousands of people have been evacuated from coastal areas.

It is also expected to affect parts of Pakistan, especially Sindh province, where Karachi is located. The government of Sindh had earlier declared that all exams, educational seminars, summer camps, and education-related events would be canceled due to the cyclone. They have also advised people to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel. The Karachi Electric (KE) has warned of possible power outages and disruptions due to the cyclone.

The BIEK has requested the students and parents to cooperate with the board and follow the instructions issued by the authorities. The board has also assured that it will conduct the exams as soon as possible after the situation improves.
