Twitter Traffic Decline as Meta’s Threads Surpasses 100 Million Users

Twitter, the popular microblogging platform, has been facing a massive decline in user traffic as Meta’s Threads, a new rival app, has surpassed 100 million users in just over two days. Threads, which allows users to create and join conversations on various topics, has become a social media sensation, attracting millions of users from Twitter and other platforms.

According to Cloudflare, a web infrastructure company, Twitter’s traffic has been steadily decreasing since the beginning of 2023. However, the decline has become more noticeable and severe since the launch of the Threads app on January 10, 2023. Cloudflare’s CEO, Matthew Prince, has been monitoring Twitter’s traffic patterns and has shared his observations on his own Threads account.

In simple terms, Thread is a new microblogging platform from Meta, the company formerly known as Facebook. It lets users create and join threads, which are short posts on various topics that can be followed and replied to by other users. Threads also feature voice and video messages, stickers, emojis, and polls. Users can also monetize their threads by charging for access or receiving tips from other users.

Threads have become incredibly popular in a very short time, with millions of people using them to share their opinions, stories, and interests. This has caused Twitter to lose a lot of its users, who have switched to Threads or reduced their activity on Twitter. Twitter has been struggling with a decrease in user traffic since the start of 2023, due to various factors such as competition, regulation, and innovation. The launch of Threads has made this situation even worse for Twitter.
