In a puzzling turn of events, the husband of TikTok sensation Hareem Shah, Bilal Shah, has gone missing after his recent return to Karachi from London. This disappearance has raised eyebrows and garnered significant attention in both social and mainstream media.
Allegations of Kidnapping vs. Social Media Controversy
Hareem Shah, currently residing in London, made a video statement to Geo News, asserting that her husband had “kidnapped for unknown reasons.” However, Bilal’s family offered a different perspective, claiming that he questioned in connection with Hareem’s controversial social media posts.
The couple had relocated to London approximately two months ago following a legal dispute involving Hareem and fellow TikToker Sundal Khattak. Bilal’s return to Karachi took place just eight days ago, and he mysteriously vanished two days after arriving in the city.
Sources in Karachi revealed that during the investigation, Bilal reportedly stated that Hareem was not directly managing her Twitter account. Instead, someone else was operating it with her consent, adding a layer of complexity to the situation.
Hareem expressed her distress, saying, “Bilal and I were in London, and he went to Pakistan for some work. He illegally kidnapped by some people in plain clothes. We filed a complaint with the local police, but nobody could explain why he taken. We have also petitioned the court. Bilal has taken away unlawfully.”
She further implored, “I request law enforcement agencies to locate my husband. He is not involved in politics or activism, and has no criminal record. We are deeply concerned and going through a difficult time.”
Legal Action and Petition in Sindh High Court
In response to Bilal’s alleged “illegal detention,” a petition has filed in the Sindh High Court (SHC) by Shahzadi Begum, Bilal’s mother. She claimed that her son, Syed Bilal, taken into custody by law enforcement personnel on August 27 in the Korangi area, and his whereabouts remain unknown.
Shahzadi Begum contended that her son had no involvement in illegal or criminal activities and urged the court to direct the police and other law enforcement agencies to disclose any charges against him.
Background on Hareem Shah’s Controversy
Hareem Shah had previously faced scrutiny when she uploaded a video on a social media platform in which she claimed to have cleared immigration to travel abroad with a substantial amount of foreign exchange without any checks. Consequently, a case registered against her by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
The Defense Housing Authority (DHA) police station has registered a First Information Report (FIR) against “unknown persons” in connection with Bilal Shah’s alleged “kidnapping.” Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shiraz Nazir confirmed the registration of FIR no 533/23 upon the request of Shahzadi Begum, who stated that her son was taken from Qayyumabad’s street no 6 on August 27, with the perpetrators also seizing his car.
