In a recent development, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has been compelled to cancel 25 flights across the country due to its ongoing financial turmoil. The cancellations have affected numerous routes, causing inconvenience to passengers.
The city of Karachi, a major hub for air travel in Pakistan, has seen the most significant impact, with 16 flights from various airports canceled. Among these cancellations are three flights from Karachi to Islamabad – PK-300, PK-308, and PK-340 – causing disruptions for passengers traveling between the two major cities. Furthermore, two flights from Islamabad to Karachi (PK-301 and PK-369) have also been canceled, along with two flights connecting Lahore to Karachi (PK-303 and PK-307).
The situation is equally challenging for other cities. Karachi to Lahore flights, specifically PK-302, PK-304, and PK-306, have all been canceled, resulting in travel uncertainties for passengers along this route. Additionally, flights between Karachi and various cities such as Gwadar, Bahawalpur, and Faisalabad have also been affected, both inbound and outbound, with a total of six flights canceled.
Sialkot is no exception, as two flights to Muscat have been canceled, and travelers from Lahore and Islamabad have been affected by the cancellation of four flights to Quetta. The impact extends to international routes as well, with two flights from Islamabad to Jeddah and one flight from Doha to Islamabad (PK-288) canceled.
The cancellations have left passengers frustrated and concerned about their travel plans. PIA’s financial crisis continues to cast a shadow on the airline’s ability to operate smoothly, raising questions about its future and the impact on travelers relying on its services.
