UN calls for humanitarian supplies in Gaza

Radio Pakistan  |  May 24, 2024

The United Nations has warned that living conditions in Gaza are getting worsened with reports of an increase in diarrhea and suspected cases of Hepatitis-A.

In a post on X, the UN agency UNRWA said that it is continuing to provide healthcare as best it can but overcrowded shelters and limited sanitation services, coupled with forced displacement, are posing severe health risks.

The UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said safe water is also unaffordable for many, and people are resorting to burning trash to cook with.

The UN World Food Programme also warned that if food and humanitarian supplies do not begin to enter Gaza in “massive quantities”, desperation and hunger will spread.
