Russia offers vaccine to Pakistan

Islamabad: Russia has offered to supply coronavirus vaccine to Pakistan, spokesperson for the Foreign Office, Hafeez Chaudhry, has confirmed.

According to Chaudhry, Pakistan has contacted various sources to ensure timely delivery of vaccine for the coronavirus. "We are trying to get the most effective vaccine at the best rates possible," Chaudhry said, adding that Russia had sent a suggestion to Pakistan.

The advisory has been sent to National Health Ministry the tests, regulations and trial results will be studied further.

Russia and China have claimed to launch indigenously developed vaccines. In the west, Great Britain has become the first country to purchase vaccines, with the delivery of Pfizer vaccine secured.

The first batch of people to be vaccinated in England will take place in the coming week.
