Amid resurgence of COVID-19 in various countries, Google Inc. has extended the work from home period for its employees until September 2021. Sundar Pichai, the chief executive officer of the tech giant, announced via an email on Sunday said that the firm had also been testing a work model "flexible workweek" for its employees once the company finds that working from office is safe again.
Under the plan, the employees will visit office thrice a week, while they will work from home for the remaining days. “We are testing a hypothesis that a flexible work model will lead to greater productivity, collaboration, and well-being,” Pichai wrote in the email. When the pandemic hit the world, Google was one of the leading companies in the world to allow its employees to work from home in order to control the spread of the COVID-19.
Earlier, Google had announced to start work from office from January 2021 but later it was pushed to July 2021.
