Sheffield United have some hope going into the second leg of their play-off semi-final against Nottingham Forest thanks to a late Sander Berge goal.
After Wes Foderingham had saved Philip Zinckernagel’s initial shot, the away side gained an early lead when Jack Colback scored on the rebound.
After a John Egan error, Brennan Johnson scored to put the Reds in front.
Berge bundled home from a corner with time running out to set up a crucial second leg on Tuesday.
Forest were only two minutes away from leaving Sheffield with a well-deserved two-goal lead, but they will still be favorites to reach Wembley in the second leg.
Forest took the lead after Sam Surridge grabbed on to Joe Worrall’s clipped ball into the inside-right channel and fired the ball into the middle for Zinckernagel after an even first ten minutes.
He should have scored but fired straight at Foderingham, and Colback was able to smash the rebound home under no pressure after Blades full-back Ben Osborn slipped over.
Surridge was in the correct place to head off the line from Egan’s header from John Fleck’s in-swinging corner after Sheffield United had been knocked out.
However, that was the best the home side could achieve in the opening 45 minutes, as Forest dominated the remainder of the half.
When goalie Foderingham saved well from Surridge and then did superbly to jump up and keep out Johnson’s follow-up header, Ryan Yates headed over from a great position after James Garner’s cross found him unmarked in the middle.
As the Blades clung on for the half-time break, Foderingham had made consecutive saves from Surridge and Johnson, the latter screwing a shot past the post.
After the break, Paul Heckingbottom’s side improved dramatically, and it was the visitors who had to weather the storm.
However, despite having the most of possession, they were caught off guard as replacement Joe Lolley stripped Egan of possession 30 yards from his own goal and raced forward, before the ball broke neatly for Johnson to sweep in a great finish.
After an enterprising move by Djed Spence, Egan made a superb block to deny Johnson, and Spence then blasted a low drive into the side netting to make it much worse for the Blades.
Their team won a late corner with the home crowd rushing out the door. Samba missed Morgan Gibbs-center, White’s and Norway’s Berge got the key touch to put the ball over the line.
