The newest generation of Xiaomi flagship phones has just introduced to public in China. We’re talking about the highly anticipated Xiaomi 13 series, which contains the basic 13 and 13 Pro for the time being.

For the first time, the two phones have official ingress protection (IP) ratings, which were previously confined to Xiaomi’s Ultra flagships and other cheap phones.

Image sensor Camera:

The camera configurations on the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro are vastly different. The vanilla variant features a 50MP (1/1.49′′) image sensor beneath the primary camera, but the Pro model has the enormous 1-inch Sony IMX989 image sensor that adorned Xiaomi’s 12S Ultra. This is likewise a 50MP camera, but it also has a pair of 50MP cameras for telephoto zoom (3.5x optical) and ultrawide photos.

The regular Xiaomi 13 contains only a 10MP telephoto and a 12MP ultrawide camera. Both phones have the same 32MP wide-angle selfie camera and can shoot up to 8K footage with OIS.

LTPO Display:

Xiaomi has abandoned the curved screen from last year in favor of a completely flat panel. The borders on this 6.36-inch 120Hz OLED display are as thin as ever, with a screen-to-body ratio of 93%, according to Xiaomi. This is a 1080p display with HDR10+ compatibility, Dolby Vision, and a peak brightness of 1900 nits.

Unfortunately, while being a flagship, the screen somehow doesn’t receive LTPO treatment, which means that reduced refresh rates for energy conservation are not available.

The curvature of the Pro sibling retained on top of the bigger 6.73-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 2K resolution. It has a max brightness of 1900 nits and is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus.

Storage and Processor:

Both phones are powered by identical cutting-edge technology, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. According to initial benchmark results, it is far ahead of its predecessor. This is coupled with up to 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512 GB of UFS 4.0 storage. There is no slot for a memory card.

In terms of software, the phones ship with Android 13 and Xiaomi’s brand-new MIUI 14. The new operating system has a slew of new features and performance enhancements.

Wireless Charging mode:

The Xiaomi 13 features a 4,500 mAh cell with 67W wired charging; however, the Pro has a bigger 4,820 mAh battery with 120W wired charging. Both offer 50W wireless connectivity, which is stronger than most other flagship phones’ wired charging. There is also 10W reverse wireless charging compatibility for your other devices and accessories.

The Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro start at $575 and $750, respectively. Global prices will most likely be slightly higher.
