Following the arrival of PTI Chairman Imran Khan for the Toshakhana case hearing in the capital on Saturday, Punjab Police eventually entered his Zaman Park residence several hours later and apprehended over 20 party workers.
Amidst an attempt by the police to arrest Khan, a fierce confrontation broke out between law enforcement and PTI supporters outside the ex-prime minister’s residence in Lahore, resulting in injuries to multiple individuals on both sides.
In an effort to dismantle the party’s established camps, law enforcement launched an operation at Imran Khan’s residence earlier this morning.
Amidst this development, police made an announcement to the gathering crowd: “Section 144 is currently in effect, and we ask that you kindly disperse.” This swiftly follows by police officers entering Imran Khan’s residence.
TV images displayed police breaching the main gate of Imran Khan’s residence and subsequently taking several PTI workers into custody. In addition, law enforcement officials state that they encounter direct gunfire and get targeted with petrol bombs from inside the house as a response to their operation.
After an agreement broker between the administration and the PTI regarding the search in Zaman Park, a sizable police force deployed in the vicinity.
During the ensuing search operation, law enforcement officials discovered materials utilized in the creation of Molotov cocktails.
Imran Khan, leader of the PTI, strongly criticized the actions of the police, denouncing their assault on his house in Zaman Park where his wife, Bushra Begum, was alone. He questioned the legality of their actions, asking “Under what law are they doing this?”
Imran Khan asserted that this was a component of the “London Plan,” in which agreements made to place absconder Nawaz Sharif in power as a quid pro quo for acquiescing to a singular appointment.
