Hamza Amin, the husband of acclaimed actor Ushna Shah, has emerged victorious at the Austrian National Open Golf Championship held in Oberwaltersdorf, Austria, battling against challenging weather conditions and a formidable opponent in European Tour victor Martin Wiegele.

In a captivating display of skill and determination, Hamza Amin, representing the Rumanza Golf Club, secured the championship with a remarkable performance, highlighted by a series of expertly executed birdies. His father, the esteemed Taimur Hassan, served as his caddy throughout the tournament, adding a special touch to the victory.

Despite facing adverse conditions, including strong winds, Hamza Amin showcased exceptional prowess with scores of 71, 70, 75, and 69. His stellar performance on the back nine during Sunday’s round, featuring crucial birdies on holes 11, 13, 15, and 17, propelled him to a two-shot lead and ultimately secured the championship.

Reflecting on his achievement, Hamza expressed his joy, saying, “Winning the Open again is an incredible feeling, particularly with my father on the bag. We’ve etched history and will cherish this memory forever.”

Taimur Hassan, a celebrated amateur golfer from Pakistan, shared in the excitement, stating, “Caddying for Hamza and being part of his victory was an incredible experience. The combination of father and son brought immense joy.”

The Austrian National Open Championship, a significant event in the Austrian Golf Association’s calendar, took place over four days at the prestigious Fontana Golf Club, a venue known for hosting European Tour events in the past.

With a total prize fund of 20,000 euros, the championship drew professionals who not only aimed for the national title but also sought to continue the legacy established by notable golfers like Markus Brier, Niki Zitny, and Bernd Wiesberger.

Fontana Golf Club’s renowned championship course provided an ideal backdrop for the intense competition, featuring 151 participants in the 49th edition of the Open. As professionals competed for the winner’s purse of 4,500 euros, amateur golfers also aspired to attain the prestigious title of Austrian National Champion, a coveted honor in Austrian golf.
