Radio Pakistan  |  Aug 04, 2024

In Bangladesh, sixty people have been killed in anti-government protests demanding resignation of Prime Minister Hasina Wajid.

The protesters, mostly students have called for civil disobedience, urging citizens not to pay taxes, utility bills and shutdown all factories and public transport.

They are accusing the government of using excessive force as the government has imposed curfew for an indefinite period.

The latest demonstrations follow students' protests last month,  against job quotas, during which over two hundred people were killed.
