Dr. Shahida: A journey of courage, mountains, and dreams

Hailing from Landikotal, a small town in Pakistan, she embodies the spirit of Pakistani women who, despite the odds, continuously break barriers and shatter stereotypes.

Dr. Shahida's journey began in the halls of the prestigious Army Medical College, where she graduated in 2000. But that was only the beginning. Her determination to excel led her to complete her FCPS in Gynecology in 2009, followed by earning the highly respected MRCOG from the UK in 2010. These academic milestones were impressive enough, but what she did next sets her apart from the rest.

After spending a decade in the UAE, building a thriving medical career, Dr. Shahida returned to her homeland in 2020. Unlike many who might have settled into a comfortable routine, she set an ambitious new goal: conquering some of the world’s tallest mountains. Balancing her demanding career as a gynecologist with her responsibilities as a mother and wife, she pushed boundaries, refusing to let social norms or expectations hold her back.

Without any fanfare, Dr. Shahida quietly achieved two monumental feats: summiting Khusar Gang in 2020 and Gasherbrum II, the 13th highest peak in the world, in 2024. These aren't just physical achievements; they symbolize the heights women can reach when they dare to dream. Her story isn’t about the spotlight or seeking recognition—it’s about personal goals, inner strength, and proving to herself what’s possible.

Dr. Shahida’s journey reminds us all that women can pursue both their careers and their passions, excelling in every aspect of life. Her message to others is clear: set your sights high, trust in your abilities, and keep moving forward—no matter the obstacles. Her story deserves to be shared, not for the accolades but to inspire others, especially young women, to pursue their dreams, no matter how big or small.

In Dr. Shahida, we see the embodiment of grace, strength, and unyielding resolve—an inspiration for all who dare to dream and rise above expectations.
