Washington: United States (US) President Joe Biden sets to work on revising some of Donald Trump's key policies with executive orders, hours after taking oath as head of state. According to details, Biden has signed almost 15 executive orders including federal’s response to coronavirus.

Other reversed orders include Trump’s stance on climate change, immigration and racial inequality.

A series of steps will be taken immediately to contain the spread of coronavirus pandemic which has claimed lives of more than 400,000 people in US.

Biden has also vowed to fight against climate change as a top priority and signed an executive order initiating the process of rejoining the 2015 Paris climate agreement, from which Trump formally pulled out last year.

Joseph Biden was sworn in as 46th president of United States at Capitol Hill on Wednesday.

Kamala Haris also took oath at the ceremony, becoming the country’s first black, South Asian female vice president.

US Supreme Court's chief justice administered oath to Biden.

“This is America’s Day. This is democracy’s day. A day of history and hope,” said Biden in his maiden speech as president.

"Through a crucible for the ages, America has been tested and it has risen to the challenge. Today we celebrate a triumph not of a candidate but of a cause, a cause of democracy."

"We learned again that democracy is precious. Democracy is fragile and at this moment, my friends, democracy has prevailed," he said.

The inauguration was unlike any other due to coronavirus restrictions, with few present to witness the oaths and ceremonies.
