Two years ago, Microsoft unveiled a smartphone called Surface Duo, now the company announced Microsoft Surface Duo 2. The second-generation corrects several shortcomings of the original device. The new Microsoft Surface includes two 5.2 inches AMOLED display panels with a high refresh rate, a triple rear camera setup, and a powerful Snapdragon 888 chipset with 5G capability.

The two display panels when combined provides a whopping 8.3 inches screen real-estate. The 800 nits bright display comes under the protection of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. This model provides a 90Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling. When the smartphone is folded, the curves are visible from the outside and illuminate to signify notifications.

The device features a triple rear camera setup comprising a 12MP wide-angle snapper, a 12MP telephoto lens, and a 16MP ultra-wide angle shooter. It allows video recording of up to 4K 60fps or 1080p 240fps. Moreover, a 12MP front camera serves the purpose of selfies and video calling.  It ships with Android version 11 with customizations for some Microsoft Apps in sync with the split-screen setting. While playing games, one touchscreen displays the gameplay and the other screen becomes a controller.

A Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G chipset sits under the hood. While in the memory department, it offers 128/256/512GB storage options and 8GB of RAM. The Surface Duo 2 also works with the new Surface Slim Pen 2, that charges by magnetically attaching it to the device’s exterior. The Surface Duo 2’s 4449mAh battery does not allow wireless charging, but it does come with a 23W USB-C fast charger, which you must purchase separately. Microsoft Surface Duo 2 price starts from $1500 and it arrives in Glacier and Obsidian Black color options.
