MQM-P signals to leave federal govt after PPP refuses to give desired ministries: sources

KARACHI: In a sudden and unexpected turn of events, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan indicated leaving the federal coalation government led by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz after its ally Pakistan Peoples Party expressed its reluctance in giving desired ministries, sources privy to development told Bol News on Sunday.

PPP turned down the MQM-P’s request to give them the ministries of local bodies, health, home, and labour, instead offered them the ministries of information technology and industries.

Alongside the post of Governor, the MQM-P has also demanded its nominee to be selected for Karachi Administrator in place of incumbent Murtaza Wahab. An amended version of the local bodies have been handed over to the PPP in this regard.The Bahadurabad-based party demanded as many as 40 percent share of seat quota for government jobs in Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur. The party has decided to put ahead its demands before the PPP leadership in coming days.

MQM-P nominated Nasreen Jalil is expected to take oath as Sindh Governor. The party currently enjoys two federal ministries: Maritime Affair and Information Technology, represented by Senator Faisal Sabzwari and Aminul Haq respectively.
