A 20-man national hockey team has been named for the Asia Cup.
Lahore: The 20-member national team for the Hockey Asia Cup has been announced. The national team will play its first match on May 23rd against India. Announcement of 20-member national hockey team for Pakistan
According to Bol News, the announcement was made by the selection committee after the trials of the players with the approval of PHF President Khalid Sajjad Khokhar.
Goalkeepers Akmal Hussain and Abdullah Ishtiaq Khan, Defenders Mubashir Ali, Emad Shakeel Butt, Hamaduddin Anjum, Muhammad Abdullah, Rizwan Ali, Midfielders Umar Bhatta, Ali Shan, Moin Shakeel, Abdul Hanan, Junaid Manzoor and Ghazanfar. Ali, attackers Abu Bakar Mahmood, Ejaz Ahmed, Rana Abdul Waheed, Muhammad Salman Razzaq, Roman, Afraz, and Abdul Hanan Shahid.
President of Pakistan Hockey Federation Brigadier (retd) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar, Secretary-General Olympian Asif Bajwa, Chairman Selection Committee Olympian Manzoor Jr., Members Selection Committee Olympian Ayaz Mahmood, Olympian Khalid Mahmood, Olympian Nasir Ali, Olympian Wasim Feroze, Team Manager Khawaja Junaid, Siegfried Ekman Head Coach, Daniel Berry Physical Instructor, Ajmal Khan Lodhi, Olympian Wasim Ahmed, Olympian Sameer Hussain, Assistant Coaches Imran Shah And Imran Butt, Goal Keeping Coach And Nadeem Lodhi Video Analyst And Adeel Akhtar And Muhammad Aslam Physiotherapist Were also present.
The national team will leave for Jakarta, Indonesia on May 19. The first match will be against India on May 23. The top four teams in the Asia Cup will qualify for the World Cup.
