As Eid al-Adha draws near, the Northern Bypass area adjacent to the livestock market has witnessed a surge in criminal activities. Local residents heading to the market have fallen victim to armed robberies, compounded by the absence of police presence in the region. Traders and citizens alike have called for enhanced security measures, including regular patrols by rangers and police, to ensure the safety of individuals and their belongings.
In the midst of these concerns, Muhammad Kashif Sabrani, Chairman of the All Traders’ Association of Sindh, expressed surprise over the decision to establish the cattle market near the remote Northern Bypass area this year. Sabrani emphasized that the Northern Bypass located far away from Karachi, and historically, imports have processed at this location throughout the year. However, since the establishment of the cattle market, numerous incidents of robberies have occurred, affecting hardworking individuals who diligently earn and save money, only to fall victim to ruthless criminals.
The situation further exacerbated by the apparent lack of law enforcement presence along the roads of the Northern Bypass. As Eid al-Adha approaches, there has been a notable increase in commercial activities and imports, making it even more critical to ensure the security of people. Despite the rampant theft of cash, mobile phones, and other valuable possessions, the authorities have struggled to address the issue effectively, leaving the community deeply concerned.
Consequently, the spokesperson for the traders’ association has urged Governor Kamran Tessori and Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah of Sindh to take immediate action. They have requested increased snap-checking by rangers and police along the routes leading to the cattle market, as well as the provision of comprehensive security measures in the surrounding areas. By implementing these measures, it is hoped that citizens can feel safe and secure during the festive period, without the fear of falling victim to criminal activities.
